Zios and Mira

Zios the Sky Father

Zios is the Sky Father of Animal Jam. He is married to Mira the Sky Mother. Zios is the "maker of Jamaa." He is like the king of Jamaa! A lot is still unknown about Zios, but you can find his statue crumbled to the ground at the Temple of Zios.

His mask can be seen in secret places all over Jamaa. He is like a Sun, and he was destroyed by the phantoms! Unfortunately, this lead to the fall of Animal Jam.

Mira the Sky Mother

Mira is one of the most important animal figures in Jamaa. She is married to Zios the Sky Father. She watches over Jamaa, and keeps it safe. Not much is know about her either. You can find her all over Jamaa, including the place above the center of Jamaa where you first enter when you join Animal Jam, and in many new items and dens. Together, Mira and Zios are the most powerful beings in Jamaa. 

The Alphas

Greely the Wolf

Greely the wolf may seem like a unfriendly villain, but he is actually a brave alpha! He is an expert in magic and crafts. Greely may disobey some rules because he only takes orders from the Sky Mother Mira! Mysteriously he know a lot about fighting and phantoms! Here is AJHQ's description, the thing that stuck out the most to me is that the other Alphas may not entirely trust Greely!Greely has been one of the most favorite Alphas out there. Many jammers love his mysterious look and love for fighting phantoms. But, could Greely be living a different hidden life? Lets find out!


Greely didn't always look so menacing. Back in 2010 Animal Jam featured him as blue with a cape, and a gem eye. He looks so peaceful right there. Back then he loved mysteries and searching for gems. Greely was the only Alpha to actually speak his mind. Now, AJHQ has changed his looks and personality some. In 2013, Greely is featured as this.

Granted, many Alphas have changed such as Peck, but Greely is so dark now. Some jammers say that Greely is even too scary! He has a deep voice, no gem for an eye, blackish/blueish, orange glowing eyes, and sharp claws. Many believe that he is secretly the ruler of the phantoms, and has a plot to destroy Jamaa. Just play some of his adventures and see why! Sounds to me like Greely has some secrets! Could he be leader of the phantoms and even the phantom king? Could he be trying to trick the phantoms? Could he be trying to trick the Alphas and us?! Evil? Good? Alive? Dead? Finally, the mystery has been solved, Greely is Alive! In the Search for Greely we see him trapped by phantoms, and jammers have set him free! Now he is getting revenge on these pesky phantoms by helping us on adventures!

We used to believe that he lived in the cave, where jammers can play the game Best Dressed; however now you can purchase a den called Greely's Hideout in the diamond shop.

Liza the Panda

Liza is probably the most familiar face in Jamaa. She is the the one who everyone meets when they start their journey in Jamaa, and in the adventures! Her personality is caring, nice, lovable, and adventurous. The old Liza was meant to look very old and wise, but now the new Liza is young and pretty. 

There is also a secret behind where Liza lives. It is to be said that she lives here in that hut. The reasons behind this think is because for one she stood right next to it when she greets you for the first time, and also the hut is surrounded by bamboo! Who knows maybe someday you will be able to go inside and talk to her some more!

Peck the Bunny

Peck is a cute little rabbit alpha! She is the youngest and shortest along with Cosmo the Koala. She loves art, jokes, and she is very talented! 

It explains above that she is pure energy with a quick temper. She is certainly the newest Alpha. Peck wears an earring on one ear, arm, ear, and foot bands, and sometimes two long strings off of her ears. It is used to be said that she lives in the attic of the Art Studio. Jammers can also find her hopping around and hanging out 24/7 at the Bunnies Only Party. 

Sir Gilbert the Tiger

Sir Gilbert was like the leader of the alphas, until it seems like Liza the Panda has taken over the role. He is a polite and curious tiger that like competition. His fearsome attitude makes him perfect for leading. He wears his cape proud. 

A long time ago, there used to be a huge Statue of him in Crystal Sands, because of his excellence. Unfortunately, it was destroyed when they remodeled Crystal Sands, and we have only seen him once in an Adventure video since. The physical features are stripes and dots on his face, and he wears, like I said, a cape, and lots and lots of jewelry. He might wear all of those items to look like a King... perhaps King of the Jungle. Pretty interesting! He has changed a lot over the years.

Graham the Monkey

Graham is the inventor monkey Alpha. He is a very intelligent tinkerer and is very mischievous! Graham the Monkey is my personal favorite Alpha, but I do love them all! 

He is the only Alpha, other than Liza, that was found in Jamaa. He came only once to Snowyclaw, the maker of the Animal Jam Spirit Blog. He loves technology, monkeys, and most importantly bananas! 

His physical features include goggles, belts, he used to wear gloves, and a key on his tail. What could the key open? Hmmm... Here is a fun fact! Did you know that there used to be a statue of him in the Temple of Zios in the Beta Days, where the broken Zios statue is today.

Cosmo the Koala

Cosmo the Koala Alpha is a herbalist (which means he is an expert on plants). He is also one of the youngest and shortest Alpha, along with Peck the Rabbit. 

Cosmo has a stick with a candle on it, which makes him look old and wise! Sometimes he has a little bird friend that sits on the end of the staff. Jammers suspect that the red bird is his pet, but recently the bird has disappeared. Around Jamaa, Cosmo has pots and plants everywhere. You can buy his den, and play in his plant adventure! Minor Alphas

Victor the Octopus

Victor the Octopus is the Minor Alpha for the octopus species on Animal Jam. He is a male Minor Alpha, and his statue is available underwater in Marine Marvels shop.

Victor is one of the few alphas wearing actual clothing. He wears a hat with dreadlocks. He aso has three dots below his left eye. We do not know what the lower half of his body looks like, including his tentacles, due to the statue.

Victor the Octopus' name comes from the meaning to win or victory. Many jammers think that it stands for the Alphas having victory over the evil phantoms.

It is believed that he is easy-going, laid-back, and friendly to all jammers.

Andy the Llama

Andy the Llama is the Minor Alpha for the llamas on Animal Jam. He is a male llama. His statue is at the AJ Birthday Party and is one of the few statues available to all jammers.

Andy's physical appearance includes a swirly beard, long hair on top that leads down his neck, and a stripe design under his eye. He also has big ears, almost similar to a rabbit.

Andy the Llama is one of the most simple names of the Minor Alphas. It is believed by many jammers that he is named after the Andes Mountains in Peru, which is where most llamas live.

This minor alpha helped lead the llamas to find Jamaa. Andy is believed to be a thinker, contemplating decisions carefully while chewing on his grass and cud.

Hudson the Otter

Hudson is the Minor Alpha of the Otter species in Jamaa. Hudson is a male Minor Alpha, believe to be a smooth-coated river otter.

His physical features include a three band armor neck piece, eyeshadow, three dot eyebrows, and a sleek stipe down his back.

Many believe that his name comes from the Hudson river in the United States, since he is a river otter.

He has never been featured in an Adventure. His only appearance is at the AJ Birthday Party in 2014.

Hudson is believe to have an fair mindset, with a feisty attitude. He is also believed to be a fast swimmer.

Atlas the Lion

Atlas the Lion is the Lion Minor Alpha leader. His appearance has a large mane, a long earring feather, two stripes, and a face painting, similar to many of the other Minor Alphas.


His statue first appeared at the AJ Birthday Party back in 2014.

The name "Atlas" derives from the Greek god with the same name, who was an expert navigator. It is believed that when the lions of Jamaa travel, Atlas leads them.







He is though to either be of the African Lion or the Barbary Lion species, which are now extinct.

Barbary lions were very large, and traveled the Atlas Mountains, which might be where his name comes from. I think he is secretly the last Barbary Lion.

Boomer the Kangaroo

Boomer the Kangaroo is the Minor Alpha for all kangaroos in Jamaa. To the left, you can see the bronze version of the statue for Boomer.

Boomer's name comes from the word "boomer" in the country of Australia, which means large male kangaroo. Makes sense!

Many believe he is a red kangaroo species. His appearance is muscular, with a painted arrow design on his snout, and three spots under his eye. He also has hair which is usually messed up in the front.

Jammers have a theory that since the kangaroos were released with the new land, Kimbara Outback, that Boomer lives somewhere near there. Some say off in the distance by the big rock, is where he hides out reminiscing on the glory days.

Calypso the Turtle

Calypso the Turtle is the Minor Alpha, or Lesser Alpha, for the species of turtle in Jamaa. Her statue, as seen here, is available to purchase at the underwater shop in the Deep Blue for 250 gems.

"Calypso" means "she who hides", which also comes from Greek Mythology. Many of the alphas are named after figures in Greek Mythology. 

Calypso is a female turtle, and her appearance includes a big shell, tall spiked hair, and a headband with a single jewel around her forehead. Many believe that she is either of the color green or blue. I personally believe she is green because she is of the Green Sea Turtle species.

Her personality is generous, yet reserved.

Sigurd the Deer

Sigurd is the male minor Alpha of the deer in Jamaa. His physical features include a sleek body, with a skinny snout, and gigantic branches of antlers on his head. He also has a clipped ear on the left side. 

You can buy a statue of him in the Mystery Emporium for 400 gems. Have you ever wondered where a name like Sigurd came from?! Sigurd, meaning 'Guardian of Victory', is from an ancient Norse Myth....

He was a warrior who is famous for slaying a dragon with his long sword. After slaying the dragon, he obtained lots of treasure over his victory! Notice in the picture above there is a deer in the background. It is said that Sigurd the Deer led the deer species to Jamaa during the cold months of the holiday season to celebrate with the other animals.

Ruby the Rhino  

Ruby is the female minor Alpha of the rhinos in Jamaa. Her physical features include trapezoid paintings under her eyes, and a criss-crossed vine on her bigger horn. She is certainly a huge animal in Jamaa. Her best friends are Otto and Edmund (the elephant and giraffe minor Alphas). 

On May 23rd, 2013 the Rhinos, Elephants, and Giraffes migrated their separate ways. It was said that Ruby lead the rhinos out of Jamaa. She is an older minor Alpha, and knows her ways throughout Jamaa. You can buy her statue in the Mystery Emporium for 250 gems.

Harper the Seal   

Harper is the minor Alpha of the seals on Animal Jam. You can buy her statue in the Mystery Emporium for 250 gems.

Yes, I said her! Harper is a girl despite many jammers thinking that she was a boy! She has a fury head, with sharp paintings under her eyes. There is a little mystery behind Harper. Some believe that Ponelious the Seal and Venus the Seal were the Seal Gods that made Harper to lead the seals.

You can buy their statues in Sunken Treasures! Many jammers think that Harper hides out with seals in this blocked cave. Today, AJHQ has modified the cave inscription into an Arctic Wolf design. 

Harper is known for her quiet and shy attitude, yet she makes a good leader for these land/water creatures! 

Edmund the Giraffe   

Edmund is the giraffe minor Alpha on the virtual world Animal Jam. The only place you can find him is in the Mystery Emporium, where his statue is for sale for 250 gems.

He is certainly the tallest minor Alpha and animal in Jamaa! Some physical features include circles on his face and thick lines on his neck. 

Today he is not in Jamaa. He is instead leading a herd of giraffes into the unmarked territory on the outskirts of Appondale in Jamaa. It is said that he grew up being an outsider of the group, but he turned into a stern and powerful leader. 

Otto the Elephant

Otto the Elephant is an the elephant minor Alpha on Animal Jam. The only place you can find him is in the Mystery Emporium, where his statue is for sale for 250 gems.

Notice his appearances is that he is the biggest minor Alpha in Jamaa! He has sharp tusks with a long trunk. There are dots on his forehead and tusks. By the way his ears are shaped he is an Asian Elephant. There are rumors that he is still in Appondale roaming the open plains and leading a herd of elephants. 

Cornelius the Crocodile  

Cornelius is the minor Alpha of crocodiles. Now Cornelius is certainly very mysterious. I have been told he is also very grumpy all the time. The only way you can see him in Jamaa is in the Mystery Emporium or the Bronze Version sold at the Animal Jam Birthday Party!

There has been some questions on where could Cornelius be in Jamaa today? Well a lot of jammers suspect that he lives in the Temple of Zios Cave. He is probably in their sleeping away ^.^  His appearance is very striking, with his sharp teeth and scaly skin. He certainly has much of the same qualities as Greely does. 

LaSalle the Raccoon  

LaSalle is the minor Alpha of raccoons in Jamaa! He, yes it is a male, is mostly described as very old, but very wise. Some say AJHQ picked a weird French name! However, it is clever because he was named after a French Explorer that explorered North America when it was first becoming America.

 He is very curious and sneaky just like a raccoon! The only physical features are that he has little face paint, and a big bushy tail. It is said that she lives in Sarepia Forest! You can buy a statue of LaSalle in the Mystery Emporium. 

Marco the Penguin

Marco the penguin is a minor Alpha of penguins. Marco's physical appearance is that he has big eyebrows and downward arrows around his neck! 

They say that the arrows are just war paint from the phantoms. Of course, the Alphas are the animals who really fought the phantoms, while the minor Alphas stayed back and helped protect their species.

Sophia the Horse

Sophia is the horse minor Alpha, and she is known the most for her boldness! Her physical features include a lined pattern under her eyes and her flowers on her body connected by a beautiful vine. 

It is known that she gallops through the open plains shown in the barn den, and she loves the wind through her spiky mane! 

She isn't afraid to speak her mind to make her place in Jamaa! She is the 6th newest minor Alpha and is a great edition to the Animal Jam Minor Alpha Family. The only way you can see her is if you buy a statue of her, and many jammers believe that is because of her quick speed. Nobody can catch a glimpse of her!

Amelia the Fox

The first comment below was a request to do Amelia the Fox for the next Alpha Profile, so here it is!


Amelia is a minor Alpha of foxes. Unfortunately, Amelia is one of the less known minor Alphas! She is defiantly a female fox with a big earring on one ear.

She has long whiskers and is known most for her elegance, sleekness, and for her beautiful looks! She is the a new minor Alpha and is welcomed into the Animal Jam family! Here is a drawing someone drew of Amelia the Minor Alpha.
